How did you find out about blogland and what motivated you to join in?
In January 2006 I stumbled across a mention of Loobylu while reading a 2002 Wired magazine at the library I was working in. Her life seemed perfect and entrancing.
So did most of the other blogs she had links to. I got addicted to checking them all several times a day and quite bummed out wondering how they all had such perfect lives. (Luckily I was set straight by two photos in Little Birds and felt much better.)
Inspired by the many pictures of these strangers’ comings and goings I found myself taking more photos of my everyday life and set up two Kodak Gallery albums as a sort of quasi blog - one on things I’d made this year and the other called “My monochromatic (frugal) life”.
Within about 6 weeks I’d decided to take the plunge into Blogland myself - my justification was that it would make it easier to keep in touch with friends and relatives I have scattered across New Zealand (and the world) and save me writing those cringeworthy “sorry I’ve been so slack at keeping in touch” emails!
How long have you been blogging?
Since February 2006 - so almost 18 months.
Please tell us a little of what your blog is about
Me!
Seriously though, it’s a mix of crafting, frugalling (my term for op shopping), travelling, dolls house miniatures (not very much of those last two recently, alas), swapping and general mutterings about the life of a 41 year old ex-pat Kiwi in Canberra.
What do you enjoy most about blogging?
The fantastic people I’ve “met” and become blog-buddies with.
Where in NZ are you based?
That funny big island off the west coast…
Anything else you would like to say…
I’m very trade friendly if you bribe me with promises of Kiwi goodies!
